Collection: Suet-sum LAI 黎雪沁
Suet-sum Lai is a photographic artist who is inspired by the pure state of nature. She extends this to art themes that she is interested in, including time, childhood, memory, identity, dreams, reality, vanities, the visible and invisible, consciousness, sub-consciousness, as well as the different states of mind in daily life. She hopes to bring out a sense of silence and poetic feeling from her works.
In 2013, she obtained her European Master in Photography from the Spéos Paris Photographic Institute. She lived in Paris for 5 years focusing on her living, learning, observing and condensing. She returned her hometown, Hong Kong since November 2017 and has been continued her art creation.
In April 2018, she attended KG+2018 of Kyotographie in Japan and held her first solo exhibition in Kyoto.
In July 2018, she was selected to attend an Artist Residency in Baer Art Centre in Iceland.
In 2018, she was awarded winner of WMA Open Photo Contest in Hong Kong.
In April 2019, she attended Wonder Foto Day 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan, and then she was invited to join the Wonder Foto Day by Backyard Select in July to showcase her works in Changhua, Taipei.
In August 2019, she was invited to hold her 2nd solo exhibition in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
In October 2019, she attended Unknown Asia 2019 in Osaka, Japan, and then she was invited to exhibit her works again in Unknown Asia Extra in Osaka in November 2019.
In January 2020, she was invited to have her 3rd solo exhibition in Paris, France, and in April 2020, she held her 4th solo exhibition as part of the satellite exhibition program of Hong Kong International Photo Festival 2020.
She is also selected to be in KG+2020 of Kyotographie in Japan and is expected to have her 5th solo exhibition in September in Kyoto, Japan.
