Description

"Hong Kong Colours" assembles around fifty old and new teachers and students from the Hong Kong Art School. They travelled to many locations in Hong Kong to dig mud and make pottery with the soil originated from Hong Kong, Kowloon, the New Territories, and even outlying islands. They created a clay version of a “mini Hong Kong”, showing the colours and characteristics of forty-six Hong Kong places. Different from the usual three-dimensional ceramic works, the forty-six pieces of clay pantone two-dimensional artworks are hung on the exhibition hall.

From local clay to local production, curator Fiona stated that imported clay doesn’t mean better clay, every clay produced in different places has its own preciousness, "Sourcing local materials is not only about the choice of materials, but also about how one person understands and lives with one place.”
