逝·誓 (oath) is a re-creation of a ready-made statue. The old Guan Gong statue, with faded robe lines and the use of ancient wash porcelain, shows the effect of the green robe fading and peeling.
Through this work I question the meaning behind the Hong Kong Police Force’s worship of Guan Gong.
The making process combines the historical background of Guan Gong and the ancient way of painting porcelain.
I found the right combination of my work through testing the characteristics of ceramics, the mixture
of materials, and the method to fade the glaze during the firing process.
