My research engages with ideas relating to my personal journey as an expatriate and cultural traditions relating to my childhood in a rural community in Australia.
With reference to the traditions of my matriarchal ancestors, I am interested in ideas of belonging, identity, time, memory and place. In relation to my own experience I reflect on familial relationships, gender and what constitutes a home and nurtures a sense of place.
My work reflects on the countries I have lived, the cultures and traditions, how they have changed through time and how this has influenced my journey. Using common thread, natural fibres and dyes, I have created an interactive installation and related works on fabric.
